Variable Queries
This release introduces variable queries: a powerful new way to build dynamic, reusable queries that adapt to where they’re used. Instead of hardcoding values like a project or a person’s name, you can reference the current object directly. This makes your queries context-aware. 🚀
A single query can now power many objects, returning different results depending on its location. It’s a big step toward a more intelligent, low-maintenance workspace.
You’ll find variable options in the new query UI. They’re simple to use and super powerful in practice.
Because variable queries work in templates, you can set things up once and reuse them within your object types very easily.
The possibilities are endless here!

You can learn all about variable queries in our dedicated video, showing you several examples of how to use them.
Block References on the Same Page
Block references now work within the same page. Clicking a reference will scroll to the original block and highlight it. This brings block referencing in line with how it works across pages, and opens up more flexibility for managing and structuring content within a single object.
It makes a meaningful difference in navigating and reusing content, especially in longer notes. You can now link to earlier parts of a page without duplicating content, helping keep your notes cleaner and easier to work with. It works with any block type.
Sorting in Tag Queries
You can now also apply sorting to tag queries. You can sort results based on object properties like creation date or your own custom properties. Blocks will be sorted based on their objects’ properties.
